Solder gun? I hope you are speaking generically, because solder guns are way too crude for this kind of work. Right now you can get very workable Chinese clones of Hakko precision thermostatically-controlled soldering irons for well under $20 in places like eBay. These puppies are easy to use because they heat fast and hold their temperature. Set and use them properly and insulation burning and trace lifting are minimized. I found a bunch of these on sale for even far less and bought about 20 and gave them to my audio friends Christmas before last. Everybody I've asked reports that they continue to give good service. Mine do, too. Set them for about 325C and solder in peace. Spare tips in various shapes are available for under $1 each from the same source. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ arnyk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=64365 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106519 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
