Your comments about Jim are fully endorsed here. Maybe it's an Aussie thing, but the way I would handle it (provided you are comfortable with showing the force of your personality) is to issue a list of 20-30 questions about Internal Audit and tell them that outrageous answers are permitted provided they are not rude or offensive (ie they are within the normal rules of your own cultural and corporate environment). Hold a competition to find the best answer to then compare with yours. You can then let them vote on which is the best answer - yours or theirs. Your answer might lose on every vote but .. you should get a lot of belly laughs with little effort and a training session they will never forget. By all means, use the material Jim mentioned to prepare the questions and your own answers (even issue them as a handout as they leave). Remember that the Internet material may lead you down a path not quite appropriate for your own cultural/work environment and that trying to impose upon them something they may not particularly be interested in could waste your cause.
In the end, you will only have genuine success in a presentation about Internal Audit if you are prepared to show something about yourself. Another scary thought from ... Ken Robertson PS: maybe it's wise to do an honest risk assessment about yourself before you follow this path. > -----Original Message----- > From: Bruce Mubayiwa [SMTP:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Friday, February 14, 2003 1:26 AM > To: Jim Kaplan; Audit-List (E-mail) > Subject: RE: Requesting Ideas for Internal Audit presentation > > Sponsored by International Quality and Productivity Center Conference on > > THE CHANGING ROLE OF THE INTERNAL AUDITOR > March 31-April 2, 2003 * Georgian Terrace Hotel * Atlanta, GA > > <See Details at the end of this email> > > Seats are limited so sign up now at www.iqpc.com! > *************************************** > > Thanks Jim! > > Your commitment and responsiveness to this Audit list is truly amazing.
