Dear ct262002,
First suggestion I would make is check the Netiquette guidelines for the list when sending a query to a list such as this Following are the first three:
(1) LIMIT all postings to topics, subjects, or issues relevant to the auditing field. Conserve cyberspace as much as possible, and always be considerate of subscribers who routinely *pay* for each message received. Postings from students requesting assistance with assignments are prohibited.
(2) ALWAYS include a subject line that is descriptive of the topic being discussed.
(3) IDENTIFY YOURSELF at the bottom of your posting (i.e., include e-signature card or tagline). Include at a minimum your name and e-mail address to facilitate back-channel communication if necessary.
The reason that I restrict student postings is two fold. One is that part of the education process is learning how to research to find the answers yourself. If we provide you with references to Web sites then what have you learned? One of the core competencies of digital literacy is developing Internet search skills. The second reason that student postings are restricted is that this is a professional discussion list. Most of the subscribers receive these emails at their business address. It is one thing to ask professors for assistance when conducting research. It is quite another thing to ask an employee of a company to help.
That being said here are some suggestions for you. You should look at some of the audit work programs, checklists and ICQs included in the AuditNet inventory as they should provide you with audit process steps for reviewing A/R. You also need to decide what the objectives of the audit are. If the objectives are strictly financial in nature then your review would involve different steps than if you were performing an economy/efficiency audit of the A/R-Sales process.
You should also use an Internet search engine and look for best practices or internal controls for the A/R-Sales process. There are many self-assessment tools available for this area. Rather than give you specific Web sites, you should conduct the research on your own rather than asking list members to suggest sites for you.
Perhaps after you have done the research you might consider submitting your results to the list in the interest of sharing what you have learned.
The Internet is a powerful research tool that will serve you well when you enter the "business world". Learn how to use it and you will find the answers you seek on your own.

Disclaimer: My intentions are only to seek helpful advice, not spam the list, so please don't be offended.
I am currently a student, and I have been assigned a case study which focuses on the audit work performed in the sales/accounts receivable cycle. My instructions are to assess the audit work performed, identify deficiencies, and and recommend procedures to correct the deficiencies.
My question for the list: What websites/resources are available to provide clarification, understanding, and possibly helpful tools concerning substantive audit procedures and the sales/AR cycle?
Thanks in advance for any assistance you could provide.
