Godfrey, You will have to be more specific. What type of tax audit? Usually tax audits are compliance audits so whatever requirements your tax authority imposes would govern the audit steps that must be taken. A VAT audit would have different criteria than a corporate income tax audit or property tax audit. In the U.S. local government also have business and professional taxes so that would engender a different type of audit.
