Copy everything from middle branch to base (white-outs??) > 4. unmount the middle branch You also need to pay attentions to, - CONFIG_AUFS_HINOTIFY and udba=inotity option since you create or remove files on the branches directly. - plink/noplink option and /sbin/auplink since you create or remove files on the branches directly. probably you need to flush all pseudo-links before you access the (new) middle branch. - xino=path option since the xino files are created on the first writable branch by default. - the EXAMPLE in the aufs manual. but it might be very old and less tested.
