Well, the concept is a bit hard to explain ;-)

Oh, right. Well, then I'd really like it if you could make it so
mkdir(2) use the described policy for choosing what path to create a dir
on. For my purposes, that'd suffice, and it would keep all writes in a
dir on a specific branch. :-)
