Segmentation fault

********Cause of error********
not really quite sure. the userspace program which triggered the error
was one I wrote. At the point where it dies it is supposed to be
extracting a file from an archive. the archive is on a cd drive, the
output file is in /tmp. both directories are within the aufs union.
strace tells me it was the attempt to open/create the output file that
caused it. open("/tmp/ennui/3203.tmp", O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_LARGEFILE,
