For the linux-live-based project I am working on, I wanted to use SquashFS 4.0 - the LZMA patches proved to me to be too unstable to use - so I am running with a 2.6.29 kernel. But aufs1 will not build against 2.6.29, and I was not willing to jump to aufs2 yet.
So I have ported aufs1 forward to the 2.6.29 kernel with good success so far. I will admit that I have only tried x86, without any "exotic" kernel config switches like security enabled (I would not be shocked to learn that enabling various security settings would break it, as that is one of the areas that was problematic). You can find the port at http://opensource.rebit.com/patches/linux-2.6.29-patches_aufs-2090126.tar.lzma - I'm not going to be too fussed if problems turn up with the patch, as aufs2 is on its way... but I figured I'd post it here in case it is useful to someone. (Alternately, I've also backported SquashFS 4.0 to kernel 2.6.28, at http://opensource.rebit.com/patches/linux-2.6.28_squashfs-2.6.29.patch.bz2 - ultimately that was not the route I went for, though.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Stay on top of everything new and different, both inside and around Java (TM) technology - register by April 22, and save $200 on the JavaOne (SM) conference, June 2-5, 2009, San Francisco. 300 plus technical and hands-on sessions.
