Hello, aufs 2-standalone.tree-20091207 (Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 32Bit)
aufs mountpoint: /mnt/aufs Problem: aufs is quite slow due to re-reading all branches on every ls /mnt/aufs Number of branches: 80 Files per branch: ~ max. 256 Duplicated files: no UDBA: no Branches RR: yes. (Only the first branch as the container is RW, but RW is not needed anyway) Options used for RW branch: -oudba=none,sum,rdhash=30720,rdblk=102400,rdcache=90,br:/mnt/s=rw Options used for all RR branches: -oudba=none,sum,rdhash=30720,rdblk=102400,rdcache=90,remount,append:/mnt/1=RR -oudba=none,sum,rdhash=30720,rdblk=102400,rdcache=90,remount,append:/mnt/2=RR ...etc. -oudba=none,sum,rdhash=30720,rdblk=102400,rdcache=90,remount,append:/mnt/80=RR Those RR branches do not contain duplicated files within the SAME directory, so each filepath is unique. However files with the same name show up in DIFFERENT directories. /mnt/1/1.dat, /mnt/1/2.dat etc. /mnt/2/1.dat, /mnt/2/2.dat etc. >From /mnt/aufs it looks like: /mnt/aufs/1/1.dat /mnt/aufs/1/2.dat etc. /mnt/aufs/2/1.dat /mnt/aufs/2/2.dat etc. Those RR branches are connected via "slower" WAN connection, aufs is used to unify them. As you can see, i tried increasing the cache timeout and also the cachesize, both without success. Also disabling udba (udba=none) did not help. On every ls to /mnt/aufs, aufs re-reads each branch. Is this by design, or am i missing a configuration option? Thank you very much, best regrads Wolfgang Alper ___ Altrust Consulting GmbH In der Horst 43 D-32278 Kirchlengern Germany __________ Hinweis von ESET NOD32 Antivirus, Signaturdatenbank-Version 4995 (20100402) __________ E-Mail wurde gepr?ft mit ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This SF.net email is sponsored by Sprint What will you do first with EVO, the first 4G phone?
