Hi List, I am running aufs2 on Gentoo using Kernel 2.6.34-gentoo-r12 and aufs2-0_p20100809 with the following configured options:
sys-fs/aufs2 -debug -hardened -inotify kernel-patch -nfs ramfs I have diskless clients booting using Dracut. I have a Dracut script which sets up / with the nfsroot and aufs tmpfs. I have recently upgraded a number of nodes to use this process. The previous process used a shm and the various persistent NFS directories where rsync'ed into the shm and bind mounted into place within the shm root. I have found that Dracut and aufs2 seems to work fine with my FTP servers and Mail servers however with the Web servers previously I was seeing a load average around ~2. Since switching to aufs2 the load average has double to ~4. Apache runs within a chroot jail and /home is mounted via NFS and bind mounted into the chroot. I have tried the following to isolate the problem without luck: 1. Mounted the chroot into shm and directly mount /home to the NFS instead of bind mounting 2. Compile aufs2 without the NFS export option I am currently in the process of compiling Kernel 2.6.36-gentoo-r5 and aufs2-0_p20101122 to see if a new kernel and aufs2 version will help. Does anyone have any thoughts to the increased load averages and what might be causing it in relation to aufs2? Thanks in advanced. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Special Offer-- Download ArcSight Logger for FREE (a $49 USD value)!
