Greetings,

I have a setup with this:
cpu-Intel P4
kernel-auifs-2.6.37

I am attempting to have a read-ony root filesystem with /var mounted read-
write. I have /tmp/rw and /tmp/aufs as mount points
A) I tried manual mount with :-

mount -t aufs -o br=/tmp/rw:/var none /tmp/aufs

(It responded with this
/sbin/mount.aufs:mount.aufs.c:215 /etc/mtab: read-only filesystem

B) I tried mounting at boot time with this line in /etc/fstab

none /var aufs rw,br=/tmp/rw /tmp/aufs 0 0

-------
In either case notning was mounted as an ls of /tmp/rw or /tmp/aufs
yielded nothing.

Advice would be appreciated.

youirs sincerely

sibu xolo
