Thanks J. R. Okajima,  Ratheendran R: > *Now after this command file created in home directory is missing after > reboot.I tried creating changes in /etc folder same observation. * It is unclear to me what you want to do. Also I am afraid you have not read aufs manual.
We get kernel crash reported from our prototype due to file system corruption mainly due to power outrage and hence I was planing to shift the root file system to read only mode with AUFS kernel support. so was into this activity. I would like to make the read only to read write mode when there is a library update or bug fixes.  For your case, I guess the new files you made goes to the upper writable branch ("/rw" before switch_root), and gone after reboot. About the multiple writable branches case, refer to aufs manual first. Also you may want to read about "move-down" or "fhsm" features.  I admit my gap of not reading the manual, Will go through the manual and get back on any queries.  But, reading your case, the simple solution will be "you don't have to use aufs" because you mount writable ext3 and want to put files onto it. As mentioned above our product is targeting automotive market, the problem to fix is file-system corruption due to improper shutdown, I would like to know if AUFS is proper tool to move forward. I tried AUFS but the support was not available and I admit you have been very cooperative in giving direction to novice person like me. Ratheendran Â
