Well... that was it. What had happened was that I had started the libau
testing with the previous kernel version aufs driver build, and
technically as libau was still being 'tested', I hadn't written up the
changes. So inbetween there is a kernel upgrade, and naturally I follow
the normal notes to build the aufs driver... which have the standard
Debian state of commented out CONFIG_AUFS_RDU...

Its been a month or so so there was no way that'd come to mind as I
build aufs (as far as my brain is concerned, libau is just aufs-util
stuff), thus this screwup.

I've just donated, sorry for wasting your time.

Currently testing a single normal rsync daemon call atm, bound to succeed.
