Yeah, it's a thorny issue; and we should definitely have versioning on lenses. It gets tricky though, since you might also need to version library lenses, like inifile.aug. In bug #99, there was some discussion of this, and I outlined a metadata system for the lens language - would be great if somebody moved that forward.
