I am a long term silent Arch user. I just want to add my 2 cents regarding the above quoted. I think people should not be unaware accomplices of this creeping AI/LLM in everything that they do. Remote unknown actors are making tons of money while offering TLDR 'solutions' based on probabilities while inviting to drop deterministic reasoning. If consumers pay directly for the service, it's normal business after all, their choice. But billions of consumers around the world are paying indirectly a high price for usual equipment like smartphones and desktop PCs. It is an accepted recent situation that the price of memory modules have reached crazy heights because manufacturers of memory chips produce for the AI industry in priority. It is more profitable for them than producing for average Joe. As an example, an Odroid M2 cost me about 200 € in jan 2025 and now it's about 360 €. The manufacturer clearly states that it's because of AI indirectly. This comment is not related to Arch's management in any way. I just wanted to spell it out. There must be other reasons to refrain from joining this 'AI anywhere' trend blindly. I apologise if I should not have branched off this topic this way. Regards.
