Thulinma [1] filed a request to merge kalu-kde [2] into kalu [3]: In the past, kalu and kalu-kde were separate builds of the same software: one supporting xembed and the other supporting SNI. The codebase has been updated to support both and autodetect the correct one instead, so there is no longer a need for two separate packages.
