Request #61175 has been Accepted by Antiz [1]: A merge request (in the AUR context) is simply a deletion request with the extra step of merging the votes and comments of the "old" package to the "new" one. When there's nothing relevant to merge (or nothing at all, like it's the case here), there's no reason to go for a merge request over a deletion one, so good choice here ;)
By the way, the comments I made about the customfetch-git pkgbuild (missing git as a makedepends, missing a pkgver function, useless base-devel as a makedepends) stands here as well. There are other rooms for improvements but the above are the main one. [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/Antiz/
