The recent enquiry on auto tow brings back to mind the experience of NASA described in Dale Reed's book about the lifting body research. Early unpowered lifting body research prototypes were ground towed and for low hops at Edwards. A hotted up Pontiac was used, capable of towing in the 60 to 110mph range, and capable of more without the load on the back. The base personnel liked the Pontiac because it had the goods so they could run parallel to the runway and pace fighters on the runway during their takeoff roll. -- Emilis Prelgauskas B.ARCH ARAIA [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- * You are subscribed to the aus-soaring mailing list. * To Unsubscribe: send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] * with "unsubscribe aus-soaring" in the body of the message * or with "help" in the body of the message for more information.
