Subject: CGC 40th Anniversary Celebrations
Hi
as many of you know February 2002 is the 40th anniversary of the
formation of the Canberra Gliding Club, an occasion that the committee
believe must not go without recognition. As a relative new member of the
club I have only experienced operations at Bunyan, and our annual camps at
Temora. However during my short period with the club I have become aware of
some of the history, having been told tails of old, and been shown some
wonderful photos of days gone by. Most of these records are with members
past and present, while others are with the "Screensound Australia". One of
our member Mich Preston works for "Screensound Australia" and made us aware
of this last year.
To mark the 40th Anniversary, the committee has decided to hold a Dinner and
Screening at "Screensound Australia". This is an event for everyone who is
or has been associated with the CGC.
Date - Friday 1st March 2002
Time - 7:00 to 7:30pm (the showing of the footage will commence at
7:30pm)
Location - "Screensound Australia" on the ANU campus.
Cost $40.00 (Drinks not included)
We would like to see as many members both current and past to attend. We
would also like to see anyone who made a significant contribution to the
club, we also want this occasion to be a reunion, and an occasion that will
be remembered. To this end we need your help. I am asking all members who
are still in touch with past members to contact with them and ask them if
they are interested in attending.
Mich has been doing his research, and has had a significant contribution of
material from John White (thanks John), however I am sure that there are
many others who will have footage too, video, Super 8, any formate (Mich has
the technology to convert it to the required format) that can be use in this
presentation. If you have some footage, of know of anyone who has, including
TV station footage of members at competitions Mich would like to know about
