The following details (forwarded below) for the NSWGA AGM are passed on for
your information.
This AGM is likely to be faced with the same "what are we REALLY here for ?"
sort of question (the "purpose of life" for regional gliding associations),
much as other states (Vic and Qld in particular) have indicated they are trying
to deal with.
Clearly, we need to continue the RTO role in some form because "head office"
(GFA) is too far removed from the local scene.
Competitions could be staged by a pool of interested pilots (those who
compete), rather than being the responsibility of a club to pull it altogether.
Ultimately the outcomes of this meeting will determine the future of regional
associatoin interaction with the clubs, and the representation of club and
individual pilot interests at a national (GFA) level.
Come along and support this meeting, share your views, and let's resolve this
to the (hopefully) satisfaction of all concerned.
There is already an NGS Instructors training activity being held on that same
weekend at Camden (27-28 July 2002), so hopefully we at least have
representation from many of the NSW clubs. Find out who is going from your club
and at least load them up with questions if you can't make it yourself.
PS: There is talk of a BBQ being held that evening for all those people who are
famished. More details as they come to hand, but feel free to e-mail me
