Following some discussion on this list recently about an Australian designed glider, perhaps you might be interested in the following site:
http://www.foamworks.co.nz/sg/index.htm in which the Kiwis seem to be hard at building just such an aircraft (a single seater). It seems their project is already fairly well advanced.
