Regular readers of "Soaring Australia" would have read the
recent article by the GFA Development Officer Terry Cubley in which
Terry said that the Gawler Easter Regatta was an annual event.
Unfortunately, after some 40 years, the grand tradition of the Gawler
Easter Regatta is no more. Yes its true, the Adelaide Soaring Club
has decided not to run its traditional Easter Regatta.
But do not despair! The Adelaide Soaring Club in its role as
one of Australia's leading soaring clubs has not abandoned
competition and sports soaring in South Australia! On the contrary,
the traditional Gawler Easter Regatta has given way to an even bigger
and better event called "GAWLER WEEK" (The Gawler Christmas
Regatta.)
"GAWLER WEEK" (The Gawler Christmas Regatta.) will be
run between Boxing Day and New years eve. The 2002 inaugural
event was a great success and the Adelaide Soaring Club will be
running "GAWLER WEEK" again this year. So save your pennies and
make the trip to Gawler in South Australia for the 2003 "GAWLER
WEEK" (The Gawler Christmas Regatta.)
PS And bring your party hat also, the wind-up new years eve party
and dinner is a winner!!
