Just a little extra on the youth in gliding thread from last week.
(Flame suit ON and zipped up tight!)
Research into our club, The Adelaide Soaring Club, indicates
that we have about twenty current flying members who's membership
originates from or has been associated with the Australian Airforce Air
Cadets. At this time we have five AAFC cadets flying gliders. When
you consider that we have 131 flying members in total that means that
at present 15% of the ASCs membership is connected with the AAFC.
This figure can be compared with the fact that less than 1% of our
passengers and AEI flights result in a club member. All of these
members are good, safe pilots, are excellent airmen and women
("airpersons") and all contribute extensively to the club.
That's a dam good return for no dollars invested into the
AAFC. Perhaps we really could rethink where we spend our
recruitment dollars.
PS Non of our AAFC members have ever attempted suicide
or wrecked club equipment. We leave this to the other, non AAFC
members. (Joke !! )ANDREW WRIGHT
