Yep.
In the first half, for Nirgal it precedes his stint in ecopoesis (which is
close enough to my own life to strike a chord) before the planet wipes his
farm out;
in the latter half for his niece Zoe Boone before the planet wipes her out.
Stuff like that happens when you terraform.

I like that the technologies he predicted then (compost tanks, renewables)
are already being used in my work. There is even a Rickover to keep David
Conway happy.

To get an even closer parallel to my life, there is Kevin in 'Pacific Edge':
