Back in 1956, Brian Creer wrote in the AG of the day, how gliding promoted
itself by showing a launch, some loops, and a landing. And that while that
was exciting in 1936, in 1956 the audience was bored.

Pity that in 2004 the footage was... guess what...

when all around was the Club Class Nationals, and opportunities for linkages
to be made to the breadth of diversity inherent in the sport.

*(No criticism of gliding or media people involved in putting the segfment
togeyther, just a reflection of the unchanging place where peoples' heads
are at while the world moves on).

I worry that not only today is the audience bored, but sees gliding as
distinctly un-cool. Which represents the kiss of death in consumer society.
We'll gauge by the number of phone calls received.
