An interesting meterological note about this years 2004
National at Waikerie. (From the Bureau of Meterology at

shtml)
***This is why we all had such a hard time and why Phil Ritchie's win at
the Club Class Nationals was so well deserving.

The Bureau of Meterology said;
Temperatures: The mean maximum temperature for January 2004
was 25.9C, which is 2.9C below the
normal January mean maximum of 28.8C. The mean January
maximum last year was 31.4C. This has been
the coolest mean maximum for January since 1992 when the mean
maximum was only 25.1C.

During January 2004 there were only 4 days where the maximum
temperature exceeded 30.0C. This equals
the all time record for the least number of days over 30.0C, which
previously occurred in January 1899 and
1887. On average, there are 12 days when the temperature exceeds
30.0C during January.

The mean minimum temperature for January 2004 was 14.9C, which
is 1.9C below the normal January mean
minimum of 16.8C. Last January, the mean minimum was 18.1C.
This has been the coolest mean minimum
for January since 1996 when the mean minimum was only 14.6 C.
