Yes - at every competition I have flown at. At the Qld Easter comp at
Chinchilla this year (I didn't fly - I was comp director) we
DELIBERATELY did not request CASA permission for low finishes. The
Easter Comp is a training comp - and I felt strongly that we should not
permit low finishes at such a comp. So, no CASA dispensation meant there
were no low finishes (there were some srtaight ins - but that is
perfectly legal).

And yes - I did get a lot of flack about that from people, some of whom
claimed that no low finishes meant they would not bother to fly in
comps! But then, a comp director gets a lot of flack about everything
(and nothing) - it will be a long time before I get talked into doing it
again.

Finally, dDo you really think that the individuals and organisations
that run competitions are completely stupid and flout the law for the
joy of it?
