My mother was abused, and told she was an irresponsible mother for taking me
on an airliner when I was 6 months old. 

The airliner was a DC4 - I will not mention the year.

Brings back some memories from 1979 with a 6 month old on Air NZ to NZ. 
Knew damn-well why, just couldn't do anything about it, that I recall. 
She has survived the following 25 years without significant after 
effects (I think!).
