The ASIC does not relate to your flight crew licence - it is the "other" 
one.  The Pilot ID cards are being issued first of all with new Student 
licences and then with Air Transport licences first, followed by Commercial 
Licences and Private licences over the next 12 months or so.  Also as 
ratings and endorsements are coming up for issue or renewal, the photo ID 
card will be issued to licence holders, so instrument rated pilots and 
flight instructors will all get theirs early on.  When the time comes you 
will be asked for 100 points of proof of identity (driver's licence, credit 
card etc) and a digital photo certified by a CASA delegate - CFI etc or 
aviation medical examiner.

Will not affect your gliding privileges though!
