Cost is a fundamental reason why one system might be better than another. If LAMEs are more expensive, we would be dopey to go down that path without large offsetting benefits.
Since LAMEs cost significantly more than a glider repairer, saying "A LAME is allowed to work on a glider now" (as you did earlier) is analogous to Marie Antoinette's "Let them eat cake".
