Jim,

Thanks for the advice re: 'Be Natural', I tried them on the weekend and
worked a treat! I know what you mean about locking them up at home - they
are tasty! I also flew with 2L of half strength Gatorade - was going
strong all 10hrs of soaring this weekend!

Thanks again all,
Adam Woolley

6 more Days until George Lee's course!!

Hi Adam,

In bigger supermarkets with a 'health food' section, grab a
selection of bars of the "Be Natural" brand and see what you
think of them. I find them great (but the one covered in yogurt
melts in the heat! Watch for specials - Safeway often have them
for $1-47ea and stock up on the ones you like - then lock em away
so you don't keep eating them!!!!!

Btw, these are NOT found in the muesli bar area - and are easily
mistaken for a cheapo copy called "Go Natural" which are nowhere
near is good IMO.

As for drinks - one tip - avoid tea, coffee (anything with
caffeine) in the morning - it has a wonderful way of making you
need a frequent stop just after you launch!!!

I too am interested in what experienced xc pilots are putting in
their camel-backs! So far I find that keeping everything clean
and fresh is such a pain that just fresh water (with big ice
blocks that last) is best. I make the blocks in half beer cans -
the size just fits through the hole!

Good luck with your gliding and I really hope that your
enthusiasm rubs off on heaps of other folks along the way!

Cheers,

Jim Kelly.

G'day All,

I'm really getting into my gliding at the moment, so am trying to
improve in all ways of our sport.

Just wondering what is the best energy foods for gliding are?

What is the best liquid to drink in the air? is it best icy cold
or warm? I know there's 2 thinkings of this...

What should be eaten the night or just before the flight for
maximum concentration and performance?

Regards,
WPP
