There are further many other considerations in design for a 1km high
structure. Ground stability and uneven sag under its own dead load as
well as seismic events, harmonics and sway in the structure with wind
or even rain strike.
Some such structures have responsive hydraulic rams in the
sub-basement to pump in dynamic loads to control the total sway to
avoid resonant self destruction, and to hold the structure stable
enough so that fixtures like the generators in the flue don't tear
themselves out of their mountings.

The prototype in Spain is 'only' 200m high, to prove the passive
function.

Kym Stanley Robinson anticipates stationary Earth orbit to equator
elevators on the same principle for when we get serious about such
structures.

I personally look forward to the guaranteed thermal and Cu on track
heading east-west cross country.
