A beer afterwards sound good, and maybe one for the person running the

Sometimes we get to see 3 or 4 people do the test in one day, so that
would mean 3 or 4 beers in a day…... I see your suggestion has some merit J
Harumph. When I've had the test done the attendant has just left
me with it and gone off to do something else for a few minutes.
I feel neglected now :-)
FWIW, my optometrist recommends I take this test every couple of
years. Every time I have a routine eye test, we get to the part where
he's focussing lights on my retina and he starts making mumbling noises
about "the appearance of the optic nerve", then moves on to a pressure
test and recommends a visual fields test.
My visual field and intraocular pressure have been steadfastly normal
for years, but apparently the appearance of the optic nerve is one of
the things to look for if you're searching for glaucoma. But it's
also how some people just happen to be made, so I'm not too bothered.
I don't mind taking the test every few years. As far as I'm concerned,
there's absolutely nothing in life more valuable than the ability to
see, and suffering the ordeal Terry described for 20 minutes every
couple of years would be well worth it if, in 30 years time, it
discovered sight loss after 5% of irreversible degeneration instead of
when I'd actually started noticing it at 50%.
Gotta love objective testing.
