G'day All,

Well I've just arrived home after a 16hr drive from JoeyGlide '04! What a
huge success it was, all the juniors had a great time - weather
considering!

Every senior that was there helping out had said that it was the best
gliding event that they've been to in a very very long time!

In all, we had 15 competing single seaters and 5 high performance
two-seaters with coach's! Alot of juniors with minimal experience raced
around with coach's and
have all said they'll be back next year with a single seater. So there's
already talk that we'll see 30 single seaters here next year! And hopefully
half
a dozen or more international guests...

Unfortunately the weather didn't play the game as you could probably see
from the results (points wise). To the organisations credit - we flew on
absolutely
every day possible. One day setting a run task of 87km and a 1 and a half
hour time limit - only to have the whole field except four outland less
than
80km into the task - no comp day. I was one of the 4 that made it back, it
certainly was a pretty special flight. After the hour and a 1/2 ran up I
was 600' below glide, 30km out. It took another hour to get onto glide -
55km out, marginal final glide and @ cloudbase! And another half an hour
to get home. There were some pretty huge deviations and lots of flying
downwind to catch the next thermal. There were four of us working as a
team to make it home - and flew in diamond formation all the way to the end
when on glide! Great Pommy soaring conditions, thanks Robert Bull, David
McNanus and Andrew Maddocks for a very memorable flight!
The weather was tricky and were tasked as if we were @ a senior Nats!!

Hope to see a number of more juniors at Temora next year!! Can you all do
this for the junior soaring movement: When ever you get to do a Air
Experience flight for a junior (25 or less), can you let them know of this
wonderful oppertunity and the junior world championships! This way when
(no if) we get them hooked - they'll have these events to look forward to!
Look out for a full report in the AG.
