And I get exactly the same argument from people regarding
aerobatics in gliders that have been designed by the
manufacturers to do whatever they have written in the flight
manual.

We all have different comfort zones and getting some
people/pilots out of their comfort zone, or to grow their
comfort zone, can meet an awful lot of resistance. Speaking
as an OFITTH, I dare say age has a lot to do with it.
