It really is amazing the reaction to this subject, it perpetuates the notion that spinning is inherently dangerous. What is dangerous is participating in aviation that requires you to do lots of turns possibly at lowish levels and at low speeds without any knowledge of how to recognise, recover from, and prevent a spin. What is dangerous is to teach winch launching without teaching the pilot to recognise a gradual decrease in energy. Mark's comments along with those of Grant Harper are the most logical thoughts so far expressed on this subject in this forum in my opinion.
