Thats the trouble with people who buy these things and then try to put a dollar cost on the sport. If I even thought about calculating the costs on my fleet I would have to factor in the fun. I reckon I would end up in the positive. We all should.

Hmmm. So I bought my Grunau Baby (airworthy, including trailer) in the early '70s for $600. What 's that work out to - - 60 cents per hour. :-D


Of course there has been some expenditure in the last 30 years, especially the last 5 years, but it still works out at <$15/hour and I still have a truck load of fun.
