Hi All,

The other Pawnee 180 to which Macca refers that Hunter Valley had is at the Gliding Club of WA and working well registered as FSJ. It has outboard wing tanks.

Regards,

John Orton

You know far too much!!  If someone called a glider trivia night, you’d win hands down!!

Cheers

The fuse tank is called the BBQ system!!!  to try and stop the BBQs CASA introduced the bladder in the tank or kevlar tank - but the BBQ fuel is there and leaks a bit slower.  NZCAA (or what ever their name is) insisted on wing tanks for AG work and a Ron Hewart(?) of Murray Bridge GC brought in 4  NZ Pawnees years ago BZL(burnt in keepit hangar) CUR (Jason ??) IGR (Brad Edwards) and A 180 pawnee that hunter Valley had.

The only problem with NZ wing tanks is they may crack around welds but cote it in the brown pro seal goo and it lasts forever. I heard a LAME north of Brisbane uses that stuff as a prop protector!! with success

I stand corrected but Pawnee D had inboard wing tanks or am I thinking of the Fatman

I’m intrigued now Michael.

Just out of interest, what benefit is there in replacing wing tanks with a fuse tank (re your previous post)

We have two Pawnee wings with tanks installed and would like to swop two wings with a Pawnee with no wing tanks. Anyone interested?
