Hmmmm.
The nearest might have been item 7.4 which included "It was noted that
the proposed motion was poorly considered and phrased, however the
intent was clear and it was agreed by the Board in principle." I'm no
literary expert and can't really see how the motion should have been
reworded, but the point was got across and they agreed with it anyway!
On item 7. 6 regarding holding the ACM/AGM in places other than
Melbourne, brought back memories of my time as club delegate to SAGA
back in the mid-70's when I seem to recall the same issue being raised
and I'm sure Terry, when he was GFA VP, saw that one as well. That
problem is hardly unique to GFA.
I'm a member of various national standards committees in the industry
that I work in and the same thing happens there. 98% of meetings are on
the eastern seaboard, with one every few years in NZ and every couple of
years one might be held in Adelaide - but never in Perth. In my case it
is industry that fund the travel to support national standards
development and is in turn paid for by the sales of manufactured goods.
If GFA members were asked to cough up a sum of money/ year for travel
for their state delegates, I can visualize the rants on this list.
My 2ยข worth.
