Or alternatively, you could come to Queensland where winter is long past
(and we anyway glide XC then too).
I flew XC in SA on Saturday.
I flew from Stonefield to Waikerie to pick up the SAGA President's
Cup (aka "Come and Get It" trophy) on behalf of AUGC.
Once the trophy had been claimed by AUGC, I "changed hats" and flew
from Waikerie back to Stonefield to reclaim the trophy on behalf of
WGC. :-)
According to the trophy's logbook, this is the first time it has
been claimed twice by the same pilot on the same day.
This weekend saw cloudbase of over 11,000ft and several flights of
500+km!!!
Only 2 70km flights for me, I'm afraid. Slow ones at that: I waited for
an eternity on the Eastern side of the scrub near Blanchetown until I
had enough height to cross it safely. Crappy thermals all afternoon:
First time in *years* I've been happy to accept regular 1 - 2 kt climbs
on a cross country.
Come on summer!
