G'day Phillip,

Cheers for the e-mail, I'll ask around and see whether anyone knows of him (other pilots have been here for 2-3years). I'm certainly not going to give up the gliding, enjoy it waaay to much! I'm just dissapointed that I'm going to miss this years JG05 (25+ entries!)..

Since I'll be off gliding for around 12months, I'm working on a number of psychological skills training methods, both personally and in documents. I'll pass my thoughts on when it's all complete.. The main reason that I'm having a go at this type of training, is because I had a chat with Christoph Nacke (Current Junior World Club Class Champion): he didn't make a single flight for 13months prior to the Junior Worlds 2005, and managed to win the championships! So I think it may be worth doing... Will be a good little experiement I guess.

Keep in touch,
Adam

Hi Adam

I had a glider pilot friend who had a job flying out of Groote. It was his first commercial avaition pilots job. He had an engine failure when he was couple of kms off shore and successfully ditched. The passengers, all local islanders, just started swimming back towards the shore but he wasn't such a good swimmer so he bobbed around till he got picked up. He now flies for Qantas on 737s. He doesn't glide though which is a pity because he was a good pilot.

I hope this is the start of a good carreer for you in aviation but don't give up the gliding, you've got too much potential.

Good luck

P.s. Flying for www.ausjet.com.au out of Groote Eylandt, NT. Flying a C210 at the moment, and soon onto a Baron! The downside, is that I wont be doing any gliding for 12 months :(
