Pilots may be interested to know that Darling Downs Soaring Club has purchased FLARMs for our entire club fleet of 7 gliders and 2 tugs. We have around 9 private owners also purchased the units.
DDSC is a pretty busy club with a lot of local activity as well as cross country. After flying with a FLARM at the NSW State comps, we were very impressed - impressed enough to buy one, and then generate considerable interest at our club. Not really being in a position to purchase the units out of club funds, we asked for voluntary donations, and have managed to fit out the whole fleet in a week.
The real benefits of FLARM are in the numbers. We will keep you posted on its progress and successes.
