The GFA does the same thing - turns documents into PDFs rather than into HTML. Not only does it make the files bigger, it also seriously interrupts the readability and flow (from a user perspective) of a website. PDF is fine for distributing documents that people need to print - but it is not, nor was it ever intended to be the 'norm' on a web site.
