You know Dave, your right. Flying at 45:1 does make
things a little easier. What might take 3 or lots of thermals to do is
done so much simpler. It was the first time ever that I have been flying at BCS
that I was able to fly to Ballarat using only the initial thermal and then at
the step, another one, and arrive over Ballarat aerodrome with 8,500' and then
feel comfortable for the rest of the flight.
Cheers

Sounds like you might need to go back to the
Kookaburru for a bit of a challenge :-)

Subject: [Aus-soaring] Another Boring
Day
After spending the morning and early afternoon
tidying things up a bit, ie too many bits not enough spots, I put the long
wings on the DG-505, VMF.
Launched at 4:00 and spent the next 2 hours
just enjoying soaring out past Ballarat at around 10,000' Final glide from
Lake Burrumbeet 70Km out having to pull the brakes to get under the steps.
Just too much fun.
