You know Dave, your right. Flying at 45:1 does make things a little easier. What might take 3 or lots of thermals to do is done so much simpler. It was the first time ever that I have been flying at BCS that I was able to fly to Ballarat using only the initial thermal and then at the step, another one, and arrive over Ballarat aerodrome with 8,500' and then feel comfortable for the rest of the flight.

Sounds like you might need to go back to the Kookaburru for a bit of a challenge :-)

After spending the morning and early afternoon tidying things up a bit, ie too many bits not enough spots, I put the long wings on the DG-505, VMF.
Launched at 4:00 and spent the next 2 hours just enjoying soaring out past Ballarat at around 10,000' Final glide from Lake Burrumbeet 70Km out having to pull the brakes to get under the steps. Just too much fun.
