Hi Michael - I guess I am "marketing people" - I'm the
WA rep on the GFA marketing & development committee,
so here's my 2 cents. This topic has come up a couple
of times & the conclusion at this point is that it has
been tried many times before (at club level) & we've
never really seemed to find out enough to justify the
effort. I suspect that if it was executed in the right
way we might get some valuable information from it,
but the counter-argument to that is twofold: we
wouldn't learn anything we didn't already know; and a
lot of the time people say they gave it up for valid
unfixable reasons: time, money, work, family etc.
Perhaps the real is that they are just fed-up, but
it's probably a lot easier citing one of the above
reasons .. if you've already decided to leave then the
last thing you want is someone on the blower trying to
talk you back into it. Like Terry has written in his
articles before - we could probably all make valid
excuses for giving it up but we don't because our
personal list of priorities has it up near the top
instead of down near the bottom.

Cheers,

Richard Mclean
