As a member, I too am dismayed at what has apparently happened in
Tocumwal. Time poor, I am one who enjoys forking out a little more to
fly great hardware in a great setting and area. I soloed there nearly 20
years back and the option of dropping in on the river -during winter
even- and getting first class service and equipment with a smile is
going to be sorely missed. The new staff have injected a huge boost to
the enthusiasm of the place and although I havent met the new owner, he
too is a glider pilot and his decision must be his own.
No one has yet to put up the obvios alternative to the low $ option of
closure-
a fellow died there hang gliding last month.
I cant begin to imagine the repercussions (where is my shpellchecker?)
of such a tragedy.
