David,

Am loath to suggest anything because a couple of the thought police on this list will respond with the "if you want it you go and do it, as we/they are all too busy volunteers" line, but in responding to your message I offer the following:

Certainly the ability to make on-line payments would be good for those that choose that option. And it looks like the trend will be more and more that way.

You might also consider a Members Only section where the Executive can communicate with members through Notes etc.

I reckon you should aim for the GFA Website to be the first place that existing and new members go for info and communication.

Why not a Forum inside the site?

Also have a look at the Sites of equivalent or competing organizations. I assume that you have looked at the facilities offered by the RAA & the SAAA here and the SAA in the states ..... but have a look at http://www.eaa.org which will give you a good indication of what others are providing.

    Hope this helps.

Regards Geoff

Subject: [Aus-soaring] ideas please!

Hi Folks

Just looking for any ideas and suggestions for how we can improve the functionality of the GFA website.

For example, on-line membership renewal and payment by credit card.

We would need to identify that we are providing an improved service to members which they would be prepared to pay for if there is a cost involved, or demonstrate that some savings can be made to also benefit members.

Thinking caps on!

cheers

David Conway
