I have used Tom-Tom for on the ground type navigation and it is
interesting. Gets some things wrong, dies in the Sydney tunnel although
it does try dead reckoning for a time, but much better than having SWMBO
giving instructions from maps. [The girl or boy chosen simply accepts
your 'mistakes' and works out directions from wherever you got to]
Tom-Tom came free on a 256 m SDIO card with the Hp 6515 over Xmas.

I don't think Tom-Tom is much good in the glider, and I prefer XCSoar,
or GPS_LOG, as the pictorial map is outside the cockpit. And in pair or
team flying I have noted much chatter stating distance to run to the
next turn as a key reference.

As I now have a Hp 6515, I have one SDIO GPS and one Bluetooth GPS as
new, seldom used, but work on IPAQ etc for sale. Any offers at about
$100 each?

Alan,

If this really gets into production it will be interesting. PDA/tablet PC/3G phone. Fits neatly over 2 x 80mm panel holes side by side.
