Brings to mind the apocryphal story of the dodo who bought a Winnebago
"mobile home", and then sued the company because it left the road at
speed after he left the driver's seat to make a cup of tea in the back...
Cheers, John G.

But didn't you read...the car 'flew' through the air..ergo, it was however
briefly, a glider and therefore worthy of this list.
Now that I've broken my vow and responded to this thread, I have
to say that the problem is not the car being in cruise,
It's the brain of the nut behind the wheel being in cruise...whatever
happened to 'driving according to the prevailing conditions'?
Using cruise in the rain could be considered quite sensible if
the speed was set accordingly and the driver was prepared to avoid driving
in
the usual wheel marks where water pools, i.e. it is a good idea to drive a
car in what is known as the 'awake' sate. Perhaps the danger of 'cruise' is,
as yet, it is a simple speed control, not an auto pilot...."I've just set
cruise, I think I'll just have a little nap..."
If water is sheeting off the road...cruise or no, it is a fair
bet that a spot of soaring will be on order!
Sadly, it seems that the more cars are engineered to stay on the
road and be user friendly, the more drivers seem hell bent on leaving it to
the cars
to stay on the road...now as for gliders
I wonder if there is a correlation between design stability in
an airframe and pilot performance.

Subject: [Aus-soaring] Newsgroup Gliding
I thought this was a gliding newsgroup and not about our cars. Can we get
back on topic and talk about gliding.
