G'day Ian and all,
I had the pleasure of flying Dads V2cxM a couple weekends ago (for the first
time, glider = 18months old), and as you could imagine, its a true pleasure
to fly! It was also my first flight (after the check flight the day before)
since returning from the worlds. Unfortunately I woke to overcast skies and
a 15kt easterly wind. The plan was then to take a tow above the clouds and
glide down..
On tow, there were hints of lift. Seeing that we couldn't work through a
hole, I pinged off at cloudbase and worked upwind. The 500kg empty weight
didn't seem to bother the V2 and managed to stay airborne between 1000 and
2000' in 0.8 to 1.2kts for a good 40 minutes.
The V2, as you could imagine is incredibly smooth, very crisp roll rate,
lots of feedback and goes foward (without going down much) bloody FAST! If
I get the chance in Summer (hint hint dad!) I cant wait to cruise it at
110-120kts between climbs, a missile!
I now understand why it's so hard to get Dad out of it, hence looking for a
glider to fly whenever I get the chance.
Thanks to all who have responded to my post, both online and offline. I
have a couple really good leads, fingers crossed it works out (will let you
know when/if I manage to find something).
Just need a self-launching endorsement now,

won't the old man let you fly the Ventus2xM!! Do your ATPL and I will talk
to him - Brad E. did his ATPL -must be easy and all he flys is that Kindi
Cessna Jet!!!! Heard he was doing an instructors rating as well
